St Kieran's commits to Environmental Stewardship

St Kieran's Primary School is set to reduce the school's impact on the environment through its environmental education and awareness program.
Acting Principal Mrs Margaret Tomov said by linking sustainable operations into the curriculum and culture, St Kieran’s has created a holistic sustainable learning environment.
At St Kieran’s we are passionate about the land on which we live and making our environment sustainable”, Mrs Tomov said.
“The school has adopted practical actions to reduce the use of electricity, reduced water consumption and introduced a recycling program to reduce waste.”
“To reflect our whole school commitment, every student plays an active role in our sustainability practices by monitoring electricity use, recycling food waste, paper and other materials, ensuring taps are turned off and any water leaks are reported."
"They also encourage each other to get involved which reflects our motto Strength Through Caring” Mrs Tomov said.
Year 6 student leader Scott Withers said “I love being a part of this project as it has allowed me to communicate something I am very passionate about with the school community”.
“It has been great for me to see how much our school community does care, and how many students and teachers have come on board with the project”.
Fully supported by the School’s Leadership Team and Board, and guided by the recent Papal document 'Laudato Si', St Kieran’s will continue to commit to sustainability practices with the foremost goal to embed this thinking and practice into their learning environment and grow aware, responsible, world-changing citizens.
