Book Week 2023

St Kieran's Primary School in Brighton celebrated Book Week in style this year with students showcasing their exceptional costumes at the Book Week parade on Friday 25 August.

This year's Book Week theme, 'Read, Grow, Inspire' ignited imaginative costumes, colourful artwork and a lot of fun in the Library.

Principal Mr Ben Gray said “St Kieran's strong focus on literacy highlights the power of books and storytelling on developing a love of reading and Book Week is a wonderful celebration to showcase this".

As part of the week long Book Week celebrations, St Kieran's students enjoyed a range of fun activities including storytelling and craft activities.

Mr Gray said “Storytelling in the primary years helps promote literacy and language development and the children really enjoy listening to stories being read to them".

Each year, many schools and public libraries from all over Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.
