St Keiran's Primary School Celebrates Under 8's Day: Connecting to Culture Through Play

St Kieran's proudly celebrated Under 8's Day on Thursday 16th of May, embracing this year's theme of "Connecting to Culture Through Play." The day was marked by a vibrant incursion featuring enriching activities aimed at honouring childhood and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural heritage.

At the heart of the celebration was a captivating presentation by the esteemed Indigenous group, Our Yarn, who shared insights into their cultural traditions, stories, and values. Through storytelling, dance, interactive art sessions, and engaging outdoor activities, students were immersed in an experiential journey that highlighted the importance of connection, creativity, and respect for diversity.

Under 8's Day holds special significance as it highlights the significance of childhood as a precious and formative period. By providing opportunities for children to explore, learn, and connect with different cultures, the event reinforced the belief that every child's journey is unique and deserving of celebration.

Principal Mr Ben Gray said “Under 8's Day is a cherished occasion for our school community and this year, we were honoured to welcome Our Yarn, whose inspiring presentation tied in with this year's Under 8's day theme of Connecting to Culture Through Play".

“It's vital to instill in our youn​g learners an appreciation for cultural diversity and the richness it brings to our lives" he said.
