Dear Parents & Friends,

Welcome to the St Kieran’s School website. Our school community provides quality Catholic education for children from Prep to Year 7 in a co-educational setting.

The School was established in 1960 and was staffed by the Canossian Daughters. In 2010 we will celebrate our Golden Jubilee so this will be an exciting year for us.

Our current staff includes 9 excellent full time teachers and a number of dedicated school officers. Specialist Teachers offer PE, Music, Dance, Art,  French and Japanese. Our Learning Support teacher is assisted in her role by an Inclusion Teacher.

We love our sport and in 2009 we have won the trophy for the Zone in our division, for Swimming and  the Cross Country Carnival. We take the children to 2 terms of swimming, in Terms 1 and 4, Term 2 is Cross Country and Inter-school Sport, in Term 3 we concentrate on Athletics.

We have a school choir and a school band and our children enjoy extra curricular lessons in piano, guitar, drums and band instruments. In term 2 our students enjoy some fabulous dance lessons.

Our student population is 231. Through teacher, parent and student interaction our school provides a caring welcoming atmosphere. Great importance is placed on pastoral care which is reflected in our school motto – Strength through Caring.

We cater for many diverse learning needs including for our students who are gifted and talented.

We offer an Enrichment program to all of our students - an opportunity to learn intensively about a topic. During this time, our students have produced some wonderful products including photographs, art work and delicious food as well as displays showing involvement with technology.

We consider that we are in partnership with our parents. Our very active P&F work tirelessly each year to organize our School Fete and various social activities to engage our families.

Our Pastoral Parents take care of our families celebrating births and sometimes weddings and helping families in times of need. Our parents are a valuable asset in the support of the children’s learning. They help in many ways including reading and learning programs, tuckshop, caring for our sustainable garden and caring for and maintaining our environment.

Our families love our wide open spaces. We have beautiful grounds and the classrooms are well resourced. The children have access to the computer lab and each classroom has a number of laptops to assist with learning.  Each classroom is air conditioned and has a fridge for storage of school lunches.
