​Welcome to the St Kieran’s Primary School website. Our school community provides high quality inclusive Catholic education for children from Prep to Year 6 in a co-educational setting. We are proud of our caring, welcoming atmosphere which is reflected in our school motto – Strength through Caring.

Qld Premier Reading Challengehttp://www.stkieranbrighton.qld.edu.au/featured-news/Pages/Qld-Premier-Reading-Challenge.aspxQld Premier Reading Challenge<h2 style="margin:10pt 0px 15pt 1pt;"> <span style="color:windowtext;line-height:115%;font-size:18pt;font-weight:600;"><span>​​​​St Kieran’s stud​​ents discover the joy of reading</span> </span> </h2><p> <span lang="EN">Local State Member Stirling Hinchliffe has congratulated students from St Kieran’s Primary School for successfully completing the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge.</span> </p><p> The Premier's Reading Challenge is not a competition but a way to encourage students to develop a love of reading for life. <br></p><p> Through the challenge children and students are given an opportunity to develop their appreciation of the English language and are encouraged to explore and enjoy a wide range of literary texts. <br><br></p><p> <span lang="EN">St Kieran’s Teacher Librarian Mrs Leesa Keaton said students, teachers and parents have all put a lot of effort into reaching their targets for the Premier’s Reading Challenge.</span> </p><p> <span lang="EN">Students were required to reach different targets, depending on their age.</span> </p><p> <span lang="EN">“Our youngest readers in Prep to Year 2 were encouraged to develop an early love of books by reading or experiencing 20 books,” she said.<br><br>“Children in Years 3 and 4 were asked to read 20 books by themselves, which challenged them to become more independent readers.<br><br>“Taking into account that older students would choose longer, more complex books to read, students in Years 5 and 6 aimed to read more than 15 books during the Challenge.”<br><br>Mrs Keaton said students who completed the Challenge received a certificate signed by the Premier.<br><br>“A certificate from the Premier is a great incentive for students to complete the challenge, but the real reward is improved literacy and a greater love of reading,” she said.<br><br>“Literacy is one of the most important skills a young child can develop, and by taking this Challenge, our students are getting the best start they can by learning to read and write well.”<br><br>To meet the challenge St Kieran’s students recorded all the books they read between 6 March and 25 August.  ​</span> </p>

St Kieran's Carols by Candlelighthttp://www.stkieranbrighton.qld.edu.au/featured-news/Pages/St-Kieran's-Carols-by-Candlelight.aspxSt Kieran's Carols by Candlelight<p>On Tuesday, 28 November St Kieran's students and staff look forward to delighting you with their many talents as we come together to celebrate Christmas as a school community.  </p> <p>We ask families to arrive at 5.30pm as our students will be getting us all into the festive spirit with carols sung by each year level commencing from 6.00pm.  Performances will also be made by our St Kieran's Young Voices, Combined School Band and Swingalicious Band.  </p> <p>Delicious food and drinks will be available for purchase on the night and cheese platters can be pre purchased via QKR.  There will also be a stall selling glow products to light up the night sky.</p> <p>This wonderful community event is one not to be missed.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
